The Baby Leopard An African Folktale
Published in Paperback by Bantam Books (May, 1990)
Authors: Linda Goss, Clay Goss, and Suzanne Bailey-Jones
Average review score:

Please don't mess with fire!
This is what Mama leopard says to her little one!
This is an all time classic, where I feel every school and home should have one!
We all know how our little ones are fascinated with fire!
Well, this book made the biggest impact on my 4 year old and did the same at the same age for my now 13 year old.
Baby Leopard thinks of himself as invicible toward anything, even Fire until..yes you guessed it,he got burned!
He runs back to his Mommy and asked her to help him, then he ran
out into the rain and asked the rain to wash the burned spots away.
Nothing is working and "Ever since that day, Leopards have had spots to remind all of us of one thing... Baby leopard, Baby Leopard. Please don't mess with fire."("" Phrase taken form the book!}
This book is just the greatest tale with amazing pictures.
Your little one will feel so bad for that baby Leopard that all you will here is Baby Leopard Please don't mess with fire!
If you can get your hands on this book, do so, you will not be disapointed!
Sorry, but I am keeping mine!

Believers in Love
Published in Digital by Artmedia Publishing ()
Author: Alan Clay
Average review score:

Beautifully written -- Very highly recommended
The ordinary confines of living leave Sax feeling distant from the world around him. So he takes up his saxophone and happens upon a pavement artist. Sax accompanies Zoe's artist endeavors by playing his saxophone for which they agree to split the hat, allowing "the notes of my instrument to flow out over her colors, and mingle with the feet of the passers by." Such a poetic beginning results in a profound yet gentle love story.

When he picks his daughter Sarah up from school, Sax suggests a new game where "we don't do anything that we normally do." So Sax and Sarah build sandcastles upon the beach, which leads to an invitation to go to Auckland to a festival to create sand sculpture. Firefly, Sarah's angle, accompanies them everywhere.

The event organizer Adam looses his job despite the success of the festival. He becomes Zoe and Sax's manager when they and Sarah are invited to build another sandcastle in New Zealand. Conflict develops as Zoe and Sax grow closer together, and as politics influence their creative efforts.

Australian novelist Author Alan Clay breaks the mold of traditional romance to make it an art of creation in BELIEVERS IN LOVE. The light tone of the narrative belies the profound observations of life, art and love. Delightful anecdotes interspersed amid the narrative voices keep the pace moving even as the shifting point of views that become a voyage of discovery. BELIEVERS IN LOVE is a powerfully creative work with prose that sings like poetry, in addition to philosophical observations that may be picked up like shells upon the seashore. Beautifully told and evocatively rendered, BELIEVERS IN LOVE comes very highly recommended.

Big Clay Pot
Published in Paperback by Top Shelf Productions (November, 2000)
Author: Scott A. Mills
Average review score:

meditative and minimalist
In a world where shiny art and shiny costumes are the norm, its a refreshing change of pace to find a graphic novel like this. A quick read, this is a wonderfully heartfelt story of untraditional love and human relationships. I hesitate to call it a 'coming-of-age story' because that would seem to denigrate just how beautiful this story really is. The characters are real and the minimalist brush lines are expertly placed to convey the perfect emotions without the clutter of unnecessary crosshatching or gawdy computer coloring. I read Big Clay Pot and find myself relaxing from the sometimes overwhelming chaos of daily life. Easliy one of the best things I've read in a while.

Black's 1998 Wing & Clay: The Complete Shotgunner's Guide to Equipment, Instruction and Destinations
Published in Paperback by Masters Pr (September, 1997)
Author: Jim Black
Average review score:

Excellent Reference Book - The Yellow pages Of Shotgun Shoot
This is a look up reference book. There is not a lot of prose in the book. This book lists, by state, everything you will need, for shotgunning. If you are going on a trip and want to look at some fine guns, shoot some clays, or hunt while you are there just open to the appropriate section and make a couple of calls.

I frequently use the book to make contacts with manufacturers and retailers.

I have done more shooting at different location as a result of this book.

Boise: The City and the People
Published in Paperback by Farcountry Pr (September, 1993)
Authors: Clay Morgan, Steve Bly, and Stephen Bly
Average review score:

Boise
It has been 20 years since I last lived in Boise. This book and its numerous color pictures, however, confirmed for me that despite intense growth, the essential character of the place remains the same. The strength of this book is the writers' obvious sensitivity to the character of the place and its people -- a sensitivity that allowed me to make this conclusion. For example, although the title says Boise, the authors, through pictures and descriptions of the rugged and beautiful Idaho outdoors, display an understanding that Idaho wilderness is inseparable from Boiseans' notions of themselves. Very much worth purchasing.

Cassius Marcellus Clay: Firebrand of Freedom
Published in Paperback by University Press of Kentucky (June, 1996)
Author: H. Edward Richardson
Average review score:

Very influential in the 1800's but obscure in the 1900s
This biography of the colorful 19th century activist, statesman and politician who worked most of his life to make slavery illegal in the USA seems mostly to stay with facts and avoid speculation - as tempting as speculation can be when all of the facts are not known. The book was well-researched over a long period. In part, it emplasizes CM Clay's influence on Abraham Lincoln regarding his political stances on emancipation. I found it a very interesting and easy read - its only about 150 pages. Great for those who want substance not fluff but aren't looking for ponderous details.
